Am I doing something wrong?
There is a fear that I am doing something wrong. Examples- Listening to the wrong music in the morning. Picking the wrong clothes to wear. Eating the wrong food. Drinking the wrong drink when I first wake up.
Fear of doing wrong is grounded in the desire to do what is right.
It could have roots in school; you worked hard to get your math problems correct so you could get a sticker of a star or a drawing of a star on your paper.
At the end of the week, you went into the prize box to get a treat.
Is this bad, or is this good?
I don’t know. You will meet twenty people who will tell you rewards for work are great, you will meet twenty others who will tell you rewards are terrible.
If consensus doesn’t exist, then how does an individual or a society move forward or advance?
I guess it depends on how you define advancing. What is clear is this. If you find yourself wavering between two opinions, then you must choose for yourself. The two popular opinions aren’t the best options for you or your situation. They just happen to be the two that are in front of you at the moment.
Instead of having fear around the next decision you make, consider pausing for just a brief moment, then take a deep breath, look around, and ask yourself a question. Pick the question. Generate it yourself. Then answer it. Then move forward.
