Ruminating

Ruminating can upset my day. I notice that I will get upset about an event. It could be from reading material, personal interactions, web posts, news received, or sudden changes in circumstances. These events may end after a short period, but I repeatedly replay them in my head. As they continue to repeat, I don’t get happier. I get more aggravated. These thoughts will be attached to my mind and continue on a loop.

At first, I was upset, but then I stopped and came up with an alternative thought. This helps. It calms me down. Puts me back engaged in what I wish to be engaged in and allows me to move forward. Do you meditate? Do you play certain thoughts over and over again in your mind? If it annoys you, and you find yourself beginning to get upset. Try this activity. Look around your room and begin to name objects and their color. For example, I have a black desk, a white AirPod case, and a purple pen on my desk. This helps get me focused and out of my head. Try it, and let us know if it helps
