Monday

What do you think about Monday’s? Do you dread them? Or do they excite you? Perhaps you are indifferent. I can admit most weekends begin with joy and end with gloom. Friday is my favorite night of the week, and Saturday is a joy. By Sunday at around six p.m., I hope the hours drag along so I don’t make it to Monday. Monday’s can be a drag because it is back to work. One day, I decided that dreading Monday and looking forward to Friday was not bringing me any internal joy. So, I had to make a change. The Dread of Monday is a story; like most stories, it can be edited. My form of editing began with a question. What can I look forward to on Monday? I started with a shortlist. 1. I can look forward to making coffee. 2. I can look forward to talking with co-workers about the weekend. 3. I can look forward to talking about weekend sports events

As I made this list, I found the internal joy beginning to grow. So try this. If you find yourself dreading Monday, make a list of what you are looking forward to. It doesn’t need to be grandiose. Make it small and simple. What will be the first item you will put on your list?
