Yearning.

It just isn’t the same anymore, or does the past seem better than the present?

It happens when I hear an old song, often from decades ago, and I jump to the conclusion that the period of the song was better than today.

Not sure why. Life wasn’t perfect 30 years ago. There are trials, problems, messy situations, empty bank accounts, job worries, concerns, and family worries.

Why then does it seem better? The present just gets a bad rap most of the time; either we are yearning for the future or revising history to suit our mood, even if along the way we distort the facts.

The present is hard to enjoy. But that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t try.

We need to try, even in the face of challenges, opposition, tears, and angst.
