It feels like yesterday

2001 was twenty-one years ago. To me, it feels like yesterday. Each morning I would wake up, shower, get dressed then head off to work. I was teaching a first and second-grade class. Today those students who were eight and nine are now 28 and 29. Some may even be married, some with kids. They have aged, their parents have aged life has changed. It feels like yesterday, but in reality, it was 21 years ago. That is 365 multiplied by 21. 7,665 total days.
Feelings are like that. They aren’t reality. But they feel like they are. What does that mean? It means that you have today. You have this moment, good or bad, to shape. You have the power to stand up to a difficult situation or the ability to heal from past trauma or celebrate a recent success, even to anticipate a desired outcome in the future. This day will end. Tomorrow another will begin. It Is your day.
