Categorize Fear

I did an exercise to help me work through my current fears. First, I wrote down the fears that I had at the moment. Next, I put them into categories. For example, if a loved one’s going through a medical crisis, that would be fear of loss and also fear of the unknown. I listed my fears, money, jobs, family, etc. It seemed that most of them could be placed into those buckets. The unknown and the fear of loss. Then, I looked back at my life and how I dealt with these situations when they occurred in the past. How did I move through loss, and how did I move through the unknown? I saw in each situation that the support I needed was there. It is easy to convince yourself to allow the fear to run out of control in your body, but this has consequences. It will impair your ability to make decisions in the present. The decisions in the present matter. So today, take a few minutes to write through your fears. Then, put them into categories. Finally, make the next decision for you at the moment. What is the next decision to make?
