"From Childhood Passion to Disillusionment: Navigating the Shift in Political Discourse from 1992 to 2024"

Growing up, I enjoyed politics, not by choice. My Father would watch Face the Nation and the other Sunday shows, and I just absorbed it. My curiosity led me to continue down that road. One of the exciting parts of turning 18 was gaining the ability to vote. I was thrilled to vote in my first presidential election in 1992. Over the years, I devoured political commentary and the news, and even as a teacher, I enjoyed teaching about our electoral system. I never revealed my political affiliation to students or co-workers. Then 2016 hit. It all changed. I won’t go into details. Now, fast forward to 2024. We have utter foolishness passing for serious politics. I saw an article that said the right is going after Taylor Swift. Why would the right go after Taylor Swift? I read the reason and felt dumber for doing it. My IQ fell several points, and I was disgusted.

Then I opened my social media feed to find people actually fighting about Taylor Swift and that the NFL was rigged. I try to be empathetic, and I have seven years of podcasts around being positive, but this is just stupid, dumb, and ignorant. The Kansas City Chiefs are defending Super Bowl champs. They were Super Bowl favorites before the beginning of the year. Travis Kelce was a dominant tight end long before he dated Taylor Swift. Even if Taylor Swift endorsed Joe Biden, walking down the 50-yard line at halftime with Travis Kelce, what would that change anyway? Utter foolishness. That is why I despise political talk now.
