I let it go. But it came back.
I frequently hear the term “Let it go.” It sounds good. It is typically applied to stress, worries, negative thoughts, past hurts, etc. My problem is when I let it go. The expectation is that it’s gone. Unfortunately, this is not the case. In the case of thoughts, what I usually let go of keeps coming back. This is frustrating. When I let it go isn’t it supposed to be gone? Why does what has been let go of return? It seems a reframe is needed . Perhaps it isn’t to torment me but to teach me. It could be that it will leave once it has accomplished its goal. Maybe stop and ask, what are you trying to teach me? Maybe after this, it will walk away on its own. It’s a possibility.
