Me and my Mask
N95 masks or surgical masks became a requirement in the workplace in January. I had been happy with my cloth masks. I rotated between black masks and purple ones. I discovered that if I kept them on my desk on top of a pack of gum, the masks would have a minty fresh smell to them when I wore them.
The N95 shift wasn’t pleasant. The masks were uncomfortable. I wear glasses, and as soon as I put them on, they begin to slip off my face. So I began searching for N95 masks and people who wear glasses articles to remedy the situation.
With some adjustments, the mask became comfortable. But, here is the catch: I have been wearing the masks for several weeks. I know it is far past the time anyone should be wearing a mask, but I can’t help it. It is too comfortable, and I am compliant, right? Comfort and Compliance are good things, isn’t it?
My mask reminded me of an episode of the Simpsons where Homer kept eating a sandwich long past its expiration date. In his own Homeresque way, he had developed a relationship with his sandwich. I guess it is the same for me. I have developed a close friendship with my N95 mask.
Do you have an item that you should get rid of ? Do you find it hard to part with?
Or do you have a lot in common with Homer Simpson?
