Institutions. Community and self
We join institutions, and within them, we can build communities.
School, Church, Job sites. These are institutions to which many of us belong. Institutions can seem kind, warm, and serving until they are not. We have seen institutions become toxic by abusing power and people, which breaks trust and creates wounds. We have been part of communities that have done the same. This leaves us with self. We are born with self, and we will die with self. It is important to trust yourself and be supportive of yourself. Don’t get me wrong, we need to be a part of institutions, and communities are a powerful form of support and encouragement. However, toxic institutions and communities need to be vacated. The wisdom and discernment to identify when this occurs can be developed when you learn to trust yourself
