Service as Self-Care.

Service to others can be a form of self-care and a coping strategy to manage anxiety and depression. Reason one. Service allows you to move. When you are in motion, the anxiety flows through your body. Sitting solitary in one place allows the thoughts to churn, and you generate more and more anxious thoughts, not less. Service won’t remove the situation that contributes to your anxiety nor cure your depression. It might not even remove you from situations that will trigger you. If you can, and if you have the ability. Service provides a path forward. It also is a form of generosity, and you know that if you help others, you will, at some point, find the help and support you need.
