Mindful moments.

The holiday season is fun. I find small things to be thankful for each day. For example. Making coffee in the morning. What I look forward to is using a special holiday creamer. Today, it is peppermint mocha. Zero Sugar, of course! Next is the ability to drink out of our set of holiday mugs. Today, it is a snowman mug. This morning, while meditating, I took the time to listen to the coffee brewing. As I do this, my mind moves away from the challenges waiting for me during the work week. Mindfulness isn’t a form of distraction. It is a way to prepare to face trials, problems, and setbacks that inevitably arrive. We prepare for fun. Disaster typically comes unannounced. Mindfulness allows you to take in the present moment. It could be a peaceful moment; it could be a challenging moment. Whatever it is for you, I hope you can meet it and find the strength to enjoy it, mourn in it, celebrate in it, appreciate it, or find the beauty in it. All of these choices are available to us in the moments given to us.
