Speaking of Spending

Our society spends too much money on elections. Why we do it is beyond my comprehension. I am sure it makes sense to someone. But why? We know who the candidates are. The more commercials that are run and the more bombarded we are with ads, does this make us a more interested, curious population or a more bitter, vitriolic citizenry? I don’t believe the contestant's political messaging helps people. I know who I will vote for in November, and many other people do. Think about all the candidates who ran for office and all the money that was spent for them to lose. What if we stopped donating our money on politicians?   Would it be catastrophic? How is society made better by donating to political campaigns when we back candidates who lose? Instead how about selecting an issue, or cause that benefits others and give your money and time to them?
