What is this about?

Star Trek, the Motion Picture, came out in December of 1979. I recall my brother taking me to see it. But, unfortunately, all I could recall from the movie was a bald woman.

The story escapes me; what was that film about?

Now the sequel, The Wrath of Kahn, was a great movie. I remember seeing it in the movie theater, and it was fabulous, but very sad because Spock died at the end.

Of course, Spock would not stay dead for long. So they found a way to bring him back from the dead in the next movie.

You can do anything you desire with words and imagination. Create new characters and defy the laws of physics.

Today I was exploring the archives of my local newspaper, and I read a review of Star Trek the Motion Picture; like me, the reviewer mentioned the woman with a shaved head, but not much about the film's plot.

So what was the movie about?
