What we do.
Do you recall what you do more? Or are you drawn to the why of what you do?
My memories are filled more with what more than the why.
Why seems like the right answer. For example, we celebrate the 4th of July to honor our freedom.
My mind goes in different places; I recall my Father using the grill to BBQ. Or going to see movies on the 4th. Independence Day when I was in college one year. Nacho Libre with my wife early in our marriage.
I recall one year going to see The Truman Show on July 3rd, and then the next morning on the 4th going to a bagel shop for coffee and time to write in my journal.
Going to see fireworks and my son falling asleep on my lap.
These are what I did. What I did reminds me of what I have and what to be thankful for.
Friends, family, and community. Spending time with others, doing things that you enjoy.
What we do, we enjoy. Today I used the grill to BBQ, made coffee, and went to the movies. A twist was that I hosted zoom church for our small group. The years pass, and the people float in and out of your life. I still remember what I did, and those what’s are positive memories.
Take time to reflect on what you enjoy, what you have done, and what you will do.
