Who gets to press the button?

Morning brings a new day. So how do you wake up each day?

Happy? Sad? Excited? Worried?

Depending on your neural wiring, it could be a combination of emotions that circle around your insides, spinning like a Ferris wheel.

At some point, the Ferris wheel needs to stop, and passengers who are in line will get off, and new ones will board. Then, the wheel will begin to circle and spin.

The wheel doesn’t run on its own. The wheel isn’t an independent actor.

The wheel is controlled by an operator. An individual who is paid to operate the wheel.

Guess what. We are the operator of our own mental Ferris wheel.

Even if we wake up sad, mad, or unhappy. We get to press the button.

Sadness, Anger, Worry usually show up first to get on my wheel. I let them on, press the button, and let them ride. But, here is what I don’t allow. They don’t press the button.

Imagine this if you went to an amusement park and decided that you would operate the ride. If you were to attempt to carry this out, you would not be met with a thank you for your eagerness and willingness to help out. Instead, you would be escorted out of the park and be told not to return.

So ask yourself, who needs to be escorted out of your park?

Who is pressing your buttons?

Who should be pressing them?
