Childhood dreams
What was my childhood dream? There were several dreams that I had in my childhood. These included being a world boxing champion, a famous musician, an oscar winning actor, or an NBA, NFL, MLB star. Safe to say that I didn’t come near any of these childhood dreams. Those weren’t my only childhood dreams. I also dreamed of being married, being a dad, driving a car, having money, and having a place to live. The dream of being an adult was a constant one. Around age 13, I yearned to be 16 so I could drive. At 16, after learning how to drive and gaining a license, I eagerly waited until the day would come when I turned 18. This was the age you officially became an adult. The joy of turning 18 was registering and voting in the elections; then, 21 meant you could buy alcohol. Looking back on those childhood dreams being a 51-year-old independent contact creator with a blog, podcast, and several novels wasn’t on my radar. Neither was a career in Special Education, and I didn’t even know you could get a DR. besides your name outside of medical work. Even though my childhood dreams didn’t materialize into my adult realities, the lesson learned is the power of dreams will propel you into places where you can make a significant contribution regardless of where you are starting from. So what was your childhood dream?
