Cup of Ambition

Tumble out of the bed, stumble into the kitchen, pour myself a cup of ambition.” This is the start of the song 9 to 5. It is a peppy, exciting introduction to the positive song. Then, as you listen, the lyrics take an interesting turn. Terms like “ they use your mind and don’t give you credit.” “ You spend money in a rich man’s pocket.” Wow, but you know what? The beat of the song stays the same. It makes me think about my day. I find myself thankful for the type of work I do each day. My work doesn’t put money in a rich person’s pocket. I have dreams for the future, and coffee is a cup of ambition. Our work days. How do we view them? Are they a grind? Are they filled with moments of joy? Do we realize that we get to choose how to approach them? Work is not easy, but should we have the expectation that it should be? Work is hard. Frequently, we are criticized more than rewarded, but I see it as a privilege that I get to work each day. How about you? How do you view how you spend your days?
