Overcoming the Post Holiday Blues

Post Holiday blues are a real thing. I was feeling sad about leaving Chicago, and returning to Los Angeles, mainly returning to work, brought about the most anxiety, along with wondering if our flight was going to get out and if we were spared getting caught by the Omicron variant.

I did a simple web search and found many articles on overcoming the post-holiday blues.

It makes a bit of sense. I have spent the last two weeks sleeping as long as I wanted, seeing friends and family, eating good food, seeing sights, watching old movies, and reading. Having to go back to wake up at 4:50am on Monday can jar the fun right out of a person.

My word of the year is optimism, so I decided to look forward to returning to work. Making this choice instead of dreading the trip home. So I will look forward to buying cheese popcorn from Nuts on Clark in the airport, watching some of the movies I downloaded for the plane ride, and looking forward to going back to work. The good thing about the holidays is that they will be back again next year. So I can look forward to it!
