Scams, Desire, Contentment

Why do people scam other people? For example, text message scams. To pull off a text message scam, you must have working knowledge of how to send mass text messages, how to retrieve the money, and the ability to spend it without getting caught. At the core of it, you aren’t connecting with how much you are hurting another person. You are connecting with your desire to have more.

The desire to have more leads to people becoming internet scammers, but it also leads to broken relationships, addictions, depression, and anxiety. So why is the desire for more than what we currently have such a strong emotion? I am still determining. Sure, we would find the answer if we were to conduct research. We need to implement a plan to balance the desire for more with the ability to be content with what we currently have. The tension between the two is real. We work hard at our jobs and study to make more money. If we choose to look for it, we want to make more money to enjoy far-away experiences when there is beauty and wonder right outside our door. Or not. For many people, beauty and wonder don’t exist outside their door. What they are experiencing is terror and fear. So, the tension is back. Why do we want more? Why do people scam other people? What would happen if we choose to be content?
